Kyocera KM-3060

The Kyocera KM-3060 is the quintessential twenty- first century multifunctional “printer on wheels” that first hit the market in October of 2007. It consists of a printer mounted on a set of four drawers, with the feed tray on the left. The drawers serve as the paper source. The printer is a rapid, efficient one, capable of printing up to thirty pages per minute. The operator can adjust the density of the copies; select the image quality; and see a print preview on the printer screen. The machine can also print offset and collated copies.

In addition to the printer part, the KM-3060 has a scanner with color and monochrome capabilities; in color, it can scan fifteen originals per minute, and in black and white, thirty to fifty. Scanning to folder and email are both provided. The apparatus also includes a fax machine with a quick scan speed of 1.2 SPP and a transmission speed of about three seconds per page.

The operator of the KM-3060 can save energy by putting the machine on low power mode; it will automatically wake up if a print job is sent to it while it is in this mode. The machine can even be put into automatic low power mode if it is left idle for more than nine minutes. Likewise, it also has sleep and auto sleep modes which save even more power.

As of now, there have been only a few reviews of this product, but they are all positive ones. Two users said that they “have never been happier with a photocopier” and that they would recommend this product to anyone.

The KM-3060 has won two awards— Better Buys for Business, and Industry Analysts, Inc. The latter ranked this printer as the highest in “product reliability, service support, inventory and overall average.”
